WELCOME
The Dupont Underground is developing a multidisciplinary platform for creative expression. We're transforming a public work – the subterranean streetcar station in Dupont Circle – into a new public infrastructure to support creative exchange, contemporary arts practice, and an ongoing conversation about the city.
Dupont Underground is hibernating for the winter and preparing for an exciting Spring 2019! If you would like to hold an event at DU, please email us the following: date(s) you are considering, description of the event, expected attendance, and start and end time).
EVENTS
Dupont Underground can be visited during our scheduled events.
Washington Performing Arts’ Mars Urban Arts Initiative and Dupont Underground present an evening of music and shopping, featuring some of Southeast D.C.’s finest performers, artists, and small businesses. VeVe & tha Rebels, fresh off their Kennedy Center debut, headline the evening with an eclectic and intimate set of Afro-folk music that interprets the contemporary African-American experience in Washington, D.C.
Dupont Underground and The Unified Scene Theater, a brick-and-mortar improv comedy theater in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of DC, are teaming up monthly to provide laughter to the Underground, bringing the area’s most talented and experienced improv troupes to weave comedy gold right before your eyes using
At the Dupont Underground, an experimental arts space housed in a converted subterranean trolley station, National Sawdust Projects—the producing arm of National Sawdust—presents cellist Amanda Gookin’s Forward Music Project. A multimedia work that draws on LGBTQ, harassment, and other issues facing women today, the project features original compositions by Leila Adu, Angélica Negrón, Amanda Feery, Allison Loggins-Hull, Nathalie Joachim, Jessica Meyer, and Morgan Krauss.
Explore a world of immersive soundscapes and projections featuring resonance and sound-painting that will envelop the audience. The program will make use of the shimmering acoustics of the Dupont Underground with Steve Reich’s Different Trains, a choral and double string quartet arrangement of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and a new piece by Artistic Director Scott Tucker specifically composed for the acoustics of the venue.
