Cost of living

This exhibit centers on Black women and femme artists transforming the trauma and silence of making ends meet into resilience and triumph. This exhibit examines that struggle through the lens of the historically disenfranchised Black women in America.

Black people in America have struggled in this country for a long time due the lasting effects of colonialism and slavery. However, this exhibit hopes to tell a powerful story of transforming the often-seen trauma of Black women into resilience, joy, and triumph!

Drawn from the institutional archives of the European Prize for Urban Public Space

In 2023, under the commission of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in the US and coinciding with the Spanish presidency of the European Union, the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) presents a revised version of “Polis” which, on this special occasion, focuses on the best works of intervention in public space in Spain during the last twenty years. The exhibition is conceived as a journey through 25 projects showing the improvement of public spaces in Spanish cities, reflecting on globally shared challenges, and presenting solutions that contribute to more democratic cities.

Mágica Muerte: A celebration of contemporary women artists from Oaxaca

DU’s exhibition Mágica Muerte: A celebration of contemporary women artists from Oaxaca not only allows the visitor to understand and appreciate the depth of Oaxaca's spiritual tradition, but in a more practical sense, it is also an opportunity to start closing the persisting economic and opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect women artists in Mexico.

Picnic Theatre Company returns to Dupont Underground with an original parody of the Day The Earth Stood Still!

In this celebrated 1950s classic, a UFO lands in Washington DC on the National Mall, with a message and an ultimatum for the White House and for the people of Earth that forces the world to wrestle with the most profound existential choice possible. Picnic Theatre Company imagines what happens the day after, as superpowers and developing nations, corporations, activists, and religious movements fight to determine the Earth’s response.
