Dupont Underground is a small, non-profit, cultural arts & design organization dedicated to creating the conditions for talent to emerge in the District of Columbia. It programs immersive, multidisciplinary exhibits - ranging from visual exhibitions, to performances, to comedy shows, fashion shows, DC markets, and more. In the last two years alone, the Dupont Underground has curated more than 300 events with more than 50 partners and partnering organizations throughout the District of Columbia. Through these events, over 30,000 DC residents have experienced this uniquely historic space and shown support for the DC cultural arts scene.

Current Available Positions

Part-Time Director of Operations

Under the direction of the CEO, the Director of Operations will:

• Coordinate a roster of art exhibitions and events with complex deadlines and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that all project schedules work in tandem

• Oversee the team for each assigned project, working in close collaboration across departments by managing implementation schedules as well as outlining important milestones and tracking their completion

• Direct and facilitate the staging and arrangement of all exhibitions and events hosted by the organization and/or in collaboration with external partners.

• Work with cross-functional internal and external production teams to identify efficient execution and creative designs that will help highlight art and exhibitions and maximize the audience experience.

• Collaborate with CEO to develop a programming schedule for exhibitions and events. • Support the CEO with tasks related to budget management, staffing of interns, volunteers, and other support necessary for all the scheduled exhibitions, productions, and events. Oversee the implementation of layout of exhibitions and events.

• Help coordinate transportation requirements of art, oversee installation, manage all set-ups and breakdowns, ensure proper care and security of all works per internal and external guidelines and strictures mandated by insurance and bond.

• Identify and communicate immediate or necessary facility-related upgrades to maintain quality for curated art and audience experience.

• Serve as an external liaison for the organization and build relationships with individuals, communities, and others invested in the success of our mission

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience in project management, preferably within a museum or gallery setting, but not required.

• Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure while sustaining a high level of attention to detail.

• Demonstrated ability to work well with teams on various projects.

• Proficiency and demonstrated training with Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Zoom, Squarespace, Eventbrite.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects on distinct timelines; ability to meet aggressive deadlines; ability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances and deadlines; ability to work with a wide range of team members.

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; time management, and planning skills to ensure project progress and completion
